The annual spring conference of the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) marked one year since members met in person, just as the coronavirus pandemic took hold. Despite the virtual format, members participated in robust discussions surrounding shareholder advocacy work, with the common themes of COVID and racial equity woven throughout the week. Sessions addressed:

  • structural racism in the development of medicines including vaccines
  • how the change in available jobs toward a clean energy transition impacts equity
  • local government mitigation and adaptation strategies for climate change hazards
  • how mining companies, whose products are needed to transition to a low-carbon economy, are beginning to consider climate realities
  • front-page news conflict areas such as the situations in Burma, the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and Saudi Arabia
  • how emerging weapons technologies and surveillance expansion are increasingly important for investors to address

ICCR members, who continue to collaborate to use their voice as shareholders to advocate for the critical issues of our day, hope to meet in person in October to celebrate ICCR’s 50th anniversary.
