Optimizing offshore wind development for renewable energy

Wind farms are an important source of renewable power, but their construction – particularly for offshore projects with the potential to produce large amounts of clean energy – can be long due to the weather impacts and logistics. As renewable energy continues to be a key solution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, Mercy Investment Services’ Environmental Solutions Fund is investing in innovative software that’s reducing risk and delays in wind farm construction.

Shoreline simplifies offshore wind development and operations by accounting for a range of variables, such as resource availability and weather constraints, to deliver an optimized plan for wind project construction and operation. Shoreline’s simulation software helps energy companies, equipment manufacturers, and service companies understand the impact of unplanned events on their project timelines and resourcing strategies including how extreme weather conditions could delay vessel movements between the port and the project site. Unanticipated delays can be mitigated against with Shoreline’s scenario modeling capabilities and therefore reduce the risk of project delays. In a testament to the company’s value, Shoreline has been used in 80 percent of offshore wind projects constructed worldwide in the last three years.

Through the Environmental Solutions Fund, Mercy Investment Services is committed to investing in solutions to our global climate crisis that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Learn more about these investments on our website.
