Demand for solar power continues to grow, and several investments through Mercy Investment Services’ Environmental Solutions Fund and Mercy Partnership Fund support this growth. An investment in the Environmental Solutions Fund that is instrumental in solar design and installation reached a major milestone this month, designing 10 million solar sites.

Aurora Solar uses software to optimize and improve the efficiency of solar panel design and installation. Using Aurora’s online technology rather than manual processes enables solar installers to accurately perform remote solar shading analysis, design solar and storage systems, forecast energy production and calculate bill savings. Demand for Aurora’s software increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, as travel restrictions forced more solar installation companies to complete pre-planning remotely. As of this month, Aurora has been used to design 10 million solar sites – a number that has more than doubled in the past two years. These sites have helped customers avoid nearly 60 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions, the equivalent to the total emissions produced by more than 16 coal-fired power plants over the course of a year. Hear how Aurora has helped solar companies, or learn more about Aurora in this Forbes magazine video.
