Worldwide, meat consumption continues to increase. But this appetite for meat negatively impacts the environment. The use of cows, pigs and other animals for food accounts for more than 15% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions and 57% of all food production emissions. An investment through Mercy Investment Services’ Environmental Solutions Fund is addressing consumers' demand for meat while minimizing environmental impacts.

Future Meat is the first large-scale line for cultivated meat. Cultivated chicken, pork and lamb are grown without genetic modification and without slaughtering animals. The process uses 99 percent less land, 93% fewer GHG emissions and 88 percent less fresh water than traditional agriculture – a significant environmental benefit.
