With November 3 rapidly approaching, the election is at the forefront of our daily lives. Two of Mercy Investment Services’ partners recently shared these resources:

  • The Sisters of Mercy recently published an election prayer calendar that includes quotes for reflection on the importance of civic engagement as well as prayers for people impacted by the Critical Concerns of the Sisters of Mercy.
  • Although employers are obligated to let employees have time off to vote, there are vast differences in policies among employers. Mercy Investment Services’ fellow responsible investor, Trillium Asset Management, recently published Corporate Support for Employee Civic Engagement, which details how 20 companies are encouraging employees to vote and accommodating their voting.

In his recent encyclical, Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis says, “Good politics combines love with hope and with confidence in the reserves of goodness present in human hearts. Indeed, “authentic political life, built upon respect for law and frank dialogue between individuals, is constantly renewed whenever there is a realization that every woman and man, and every new generation, brings the promise of new relational, intellectual, cultural and spiritual energies."
