As communities around the world shuttered to stop the spread of coronavirus, people spending more time at home saw their energy bills quickly rising. For Mercy Partnership Fund investee Solar and Energy Loan Fund (SELF), demand for affordable, energy-efficient home improvements grew dramatically. SELF’s lending almost tripled from March 31 to June 30, with affordable loans for energy-efficient home improvements such as air conditioners, insulation and wind mitigation helping to keep families cool and healthy. Loans have also helped replace roofs for people in danger of being dropped from their insurance companies in the midst of hurricane season.
