In dense urban areas, motorcycles are a popular choice for navigating the city, but they’re a significant contributor to air pollution and carbon dioxide emissions. As part of its commitment to Mercy’s Critical Concern for Earth, Mercy Investment Services’ Environmental Solutions Fund is supporting a company making cleaner transportation more accessible to drivers.
Vammo, a Brazil-based electric two-wheeler rental platform, offers drivers an electric motorcycle with unlimited battery swaps and ongoing maintenance. Drivers can access a new battery or service 24-7 through more than 700 swap cabinets and 250 maintenance stations across São Paulo, Brazil. Battery swaps take less than one minute, making Vammo appealing to last-mile delivery drivers who rely on accessible transportation for their income. Drivers reduce their ownership costs by 30 to 40 percent compared to gas-powered vehicles, allowing them to increase their earnings while helping decrease carbon dioxide emissions. Vammo has nearly 10,000 vehicles in its fleet and is currently expanding into nearby cities and increasing partnerships with major fleet operators.
